HELP I can't dance - is ZUMBA® for me?
Previous dance experience is not required! You dont even have to have good coordination... just be prepared to move, laugh, sweat buckets and have lots n lots of fun! We cater for a varied ability class and as with all fitness classes, the more you put into the class/moves the more you will get out!!!

Will I lose weight doing ZUMBA®?
Losing weight is simple mathematics = eat less and exercise more and you will lose weight... So if you follow a healthy eating plan/reduce your calorie intake, and increase your activity in general and you will see results. We recommend that you do 2 or more ZUMBA classes per week for weight loss and toning.
Each ZUMBA class, uses the principles of interval and resistance training and can help you burn 500 to 800 calories (or more), depending on your body and the intensity of the class. I recommend to help you lose weight further, practice the ZUMBA moves at home by dancing to Latin music, using the ZUMBA FITNESS DVD's.

I have problems with my knees / back can I still do ZUMBA®?
ZUMBA covers a range of dance & fitness choreography, incorporating all areas of the body, so if you let your instructor know about any injuries/health problems before the class Karen will suggest alternative exercises to do. For existing health problems, chronic illness and pregnancy matters we also strongly suggest you check with your Doctor before you start a ZUMBA program to check its suitability please.

What do I wear?
ZUMBA is a dance class but also a fitness class, and you will work up a sweat so we recommend gym clothing. Suitable trainers which have had some wear are fab (too much traction makes you stick to the floor and we want you to move!) or Dance trainers if you have got them.

What should I bring anything with me?
Make sure you have plenty of water before class, and bring plenty with you. If you ZUMBA with Ooommppphhh, you will most definitely sweat so a small towel is useful too...
If you are doing a ZUMBA TONING class you will need either Toning Sticks or light hand weights (toning sticks weigh 1.5lbs so no more than 3lbs for hand weights please).

How old do you have to be?
ZUMBA Basics is specifically for 16+ age range. However in some of our venues we do allow 14+ participants if accompanied by a parent/guardian. You will be asked to sign a waiver and provide extra water.

Zumbatomic® is a program designed especially for children aged 4 years and up. Karen provides children's parties and is available to work in the education sector with year 1 children and above. Click for more information
